Learn How To Strategize With The Classic Battleship Game

The classic Battleship Game is a guessing game that is played by two people.  It was originally played as a pencil and paper game before being printed as a board game.  It was originally published by the Milton Bradley Company in 1967.  The Battleship Game is played on two square grids, one for each player.  The individual squares in the grid are identified by letter and number.  On one grid the player arranges their own ships and records the shots by their opponents.  On the other grid the player records their own shots.  Before starting the game each player will secretly arrange a number of ships on that grid for that player.  After the ships have been positioned the game proceeds in a series of rounds.  Each player takes a turn announcing a list of target squares in the opponents' grid that are to be shot at.  If a ship occupies one of the selected squares then it takes a hit.  When all the squares of a ship have been hit, then the ship is sunk.   If at the end of a round all of one player's ships have been sunk, then the game ends and the other player wins.

There are a great many selections available of the popular Battleship Game.  Great sites like Amazon offer excellent prices and quality products.  The selection of games online include the favorite classic edition.  The playing arena is a notebook sized plastic board updated for 90's sensibilities.  The floor of the board is printed with waves, and the exterior somewhat resembles a laptop.  The basic design mimics the view a submarine captain would have, that comes complete with a glimmer of radar waves.

Another great version of the Battleship Game is the electronic Advanced Mission.  It is updated with exciting advanced game-play and other strategic options.  Contains action packed thrills and explosive sounds of real life warfare.  You can play a real live opponent, or take on solo play with the computer.  Use the radar and sonar to locate your enemies ship, and you can also select from  four different missions to make the game as advanced as you like.

Also available is the electronic handheld Battleship Game.  This version is a palm size computer edition of the classic game.  There are five ships, similar to the full size game, that you strategically position on the tiny screen display.  Comes with auto or manual positioning and various skill levels, and you can track the hits and misses on the 9 X 10 inch square grid.  There are three different games that require different naval maneuvers to score the most points.
