Finding The Collectibles You Love

There are so many fun and wonderful collectibles out there. The variety and styles are overwhelming. There are cute angels, beautiful porcelain dolls, animals, plates, villages, and even advertising icon collectibles. There are huge sets and series, such as Hallmark ornaments, or small groups, such as antique powder boxes. Not to mention high end collectibles such as paintings, sculptures and antique silver.

How do you choose collectibles? The answer is extremely simple -- collect what you love. Collecting in hope of monetary gain is risky and can take the pleasure out of fun and interesting collectibles. It’s much more enjoyable to walk into a shop with expectations high, hoping to get the next hard-to-find piece in your collection.

Collecting is pure fun. It combines the thrill of the chase, the fun of meeting new people, and the satisfaction of owning something you love. There’s an inherent joy in admiring the collection you’ve acquired, and dreaming of the next collectibles you hope to find.

No matter what collectibles you choose, there’s always room for another. Perhaps you have a complete set of Cherished Teddies Carousel Collection. It’s time to branch out and start collecting Cherished Teddies Once Upon a Teddy Collection, or maybe you want to switch gears and start a Boyds Bears Bearstone collection to complement your Cherished Teddies. There are many ways to tie your various collections together.

If you have a passion for something, there’s bound to be corresponding collectibles. Are you fascinated by different cultures? Consider collecting items such as Native American Kachina Dolls, or African carvings. You don’t even need to stick to one culture, create a stunning collection of pieces from around the world.

Don’t hide your collectibles away in a corner. Display them as part of your home decor. After all, they’re some of your favorite things. Put your collectibles where you can see and enjoy them on a daily basis. Of course, this will probably fuel your fever for whatever you are collecting, but that’s part of the point! Surrounding yourself with things you love and admire adds a very personal touch to your home. This goes for everything from masterpieces of art to antique toys.

Choosing what you love and can be passionate about are the keys to creating a perfect group of collectibles. Possible future monetary value should not be a primary concern. Unless of course you are considering the future sentimental value your collectibles such as toys and dolls may have to future generations. Spend some time learning about different types of collectibles and then have fun collecting!
