Where can you find fun, laughter, and special memories? From doll houses of course!

Every little girl loves to play with doll houses. Doll houses are a place to decorate, rearrange, and love out adventures with their favorite dolls.

Doll houses come in many forms. From simple open cardboard houses to fancy Victorian miniature models of actual houses. Even the simplest design can provide hours of fun and entertainment.

Decorating and collecting sets of furniture is half the fun of owning doll houses. There are all sorts of imaginative furniture and accessories available, as well as detailed period furniture, such as drop-leaf tables, roll-top desks, and murphy beds that make for a lot of fun. Accessories like curtains, paintings, vases, and bedding add decorator touches to these miniature homes.

Doll houses can be incredibly life-like. Replicas of the owners home were once very popular. Details that make the house seem like a “real” home are always in demand. Appliances like refrigerators, stoves, and microwaves add a working touch. Also, every good doll house needs a set of china and a tea set for the wonderful parties that will take place there.

Doll houses created for specific dolls are fun and popular. What little girl didn’t dream of owning a Barbie house? Winnie the Pooh houses, Polly Pocket houses, Weeble-Wobble houses, and Strawberry Shortcake houses are just a few of the fun houses made for certain dolls. Specialty homes such as farm houses, castles, log cabins, and mansions are also great fun.

Handmade doll houses are often passed down as family heirlooms. They can be a wonderful portrait of changing times as accessories are added and furniture changed. An heirloom doll house provides a snapshot of childhoods from different eras.

Certain doll houses have furniture that is highly collectible. Well-crafted furniture with intricate details is very sought after. Accessories with moving parts, such as a television with knobs that turn or a fridge that lights up when opened are special touches that delight children and adults alike.

While some doll houses are made for play, others are made to display collectible furniture and dolls. These homes are usually finely handcrafted specifically for the collection they will be displaying. These wonderful doll homes will often have windows that open and close, removable sides, and even electricity. These fantasy doll houses are often filled with designer wallpaper and fabrics, and fine wood furniture. In period houses, no detail is spared to create the exact look of a certain time period.

Just as dolls hold a special place in our hearts, doll houses are places for fun, memories and laughter.
