Lego Robots – Great Projects With Lego Robotics
Lego Mindstorm Invention System is an excellent legos toy kit that will allow you and your child
to design and put together some amazing projects like building lego robots. The mindstorm kit
is an excellent toy for teaching children engineering and mechanical skills, they also make one of the best
collectible toys on the market today. They have become one of the top
long lasting hobbies for kids, and your children will love learning and having fun at the same
time.
You can create some great mechanical toys with the Lego Mindstorm kit. An educational
project that you can start with your child is to build a web cam robot with the robotics kit.
By using the Lego Mindstorm Invention System kit combined with the Vision Command System you
can create a robot with a web cam attached to it in no time. Included with this
toy kit is a set of
instructions for building three basic robots. You do have the choice of following the manual
or to let your imagination run wild and come up with your own creation. The instructions do
include detailed pictures of what the robot will look like.
The main component of the robot is the RCX or the programmable robotics command system.
It is a yellow brick that is snapped into place like the other lego pieces. The RCX houses
sensors to control the robots actions and drive its two motors. To get the robot to move
you need to do some programming on your computer using the Lego RCX Code programming
language. One the programming is complete you upload it to your robot using an infrared
transmitter that connects to your PC’s serial ports.
The Vision Command system will allow you to give your robot sight
by using a Webcam. You can also program the command system to react
to motion and lights. The command system together with the robotics
kit will really bring your robots to life. There are endless
possibilities that your can do with this unique lego toy kit.
