Jim Hensons's adorable little Muppet Babies

On September 15, 1984 Jim Henson's Muppet Babies made its first premiere on CBS.  The original characters had returned to television as young children in a popular animated series.  Muppet Babies had lived in a big house with their Nanny and had used their imagination to transport themselves to far off places from within their nursery.  They would go on wild far off adventures and could survive anything.  Originally the series began as a half-hour show, and later expanded to a full hour and eventually 90 minutes.  The show incorporated some very famous well-known personalities such as: Barbara Billingsley as the Nanny, and Howie Mandel as Animal, Bunsen, and Skeeter.

The list of Muppet Babies included:

  • Kermit who is basically the head of the Muppet Babies, but never bossy or pushy. He helps to make a lot of decisions and gets things moving, and the rest of the gang look up to him.
  • Piggy is one of the most outspoken and bossy Muppet Babies. She is infatuated with love, romance, glamour and anything Hollywood.  She is in love with Kermit and wants to be rich and famous and marry Kermit someday.
  • Fozzie is the most dependent and clumsy of the Muppet Babies.  He is best friends with Kermit and has one of the biggest hearts around.
  • Gonzo is definitely one of the strangest of all the Muppet Babies and no one is exactly sure of what he is.  He is always off on his own doing his own weird thing, and also has a huge crush on Piggy.
  • Rowlf is a dog and is the musician of all the Muppet Babies.  He loves his toy piano.
  • Skeeter is a female and one of the twin Muppet Babies who has a brother named Scooter that she is constantly teasing.  She is always bouncing on her trampoline, or playing with her ball and wants to grow up to be an Olympian.
  • Scooter is the genius and computer nerd of all the Muppet Babies. He has a twin sister named Skeeter.  He loves his books and computers, and can't see a thing without his glasses.
  • Animal is the youngest of all the Muppet Babies and is full of energy.  He loves to play all day long, and is very destructive and can be known to break things.  He is very lovable and sweet and is still learning to walk.

You can find Muppet Babies at great sites like Amazon and KBtoys. They offer 14" plush toys for all your favorite characters Kermit, Piggy, Fozzie, Gonzo, and Kermit.  Each doll also comes with a thirty minute DVD that contains a full episode from one of your favorite shows.
