Nintendo Entertainment Systems – The Evolution Of NES
Nintendo Entertainment Systems, also known as NES, is an 8 bit video game console that was
released by Nintendo in North America, Australia, and Europe. The classic Nintendo Entertainment
System helped to set the standard for other gaming consoles in many areas. The first area
was in game design with the introduction of Super Mario Bros. Another important area was in
Business Practices, Nintendo Systems manufacturers openly brought in third party developers.
The next generation of Nintendo video game consoles will build on the past to set new
standards for the future. Nintendo will utilize a wide range of strategies to attract an
expanded list of gamers and players to more types of video games.
Nintendo’s new console is slated for release in 2006 and is code named Revolution. It
features all-access gaming which includes backward compatibility with the virtual console
concept, the stylish compact body provides maximum gaming power.
Here is a list of some of the system features of this next generation multimedia
gaming system:
New Nintendo Look
The new Nintendo gaming console has a smart compact design that is approximately the size
of three regular DVD cases stacked together. It also will be available in a variety of colors
and comes with a silver stand that is displayed horizontally or vertically.
Backward Compatibility
The new Nintendo console is able to play all games from the current
Nintendo GameCube
generation. The interesting part is that the Nintendo Gaming
Console will have downloadable access to 20 years of favorite titles
that was originally releases for the classic Nintendo
64, Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) and the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES).
Game players will also love the easy expansion capability available. There is a bay for
an SD memory card that will allow players to expand the internal flash memory.

The Game Stars
A number of new franchise properties will be added to the ever
popular Nintendo games such as:
Mario, Zelda, Super Smash Bros, Donkey Kong and Metroid.
Going Wireless
There will be a number of Wi-Fi enabled launch titles that will employ Nintendo’s newly announced wireless gaming service – Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. This is a worldwide network of Nintendo players who
can get together to compete against each other in the comfort environment.
