Nintendo Game Cube – More Power Then You Think

The Nintendo Game Cube was designed to provide gamers with the most entertaining and exciting gaming experiences possible. Nintendo is one of the leaders in Video Game Systems and their console is loaded with innovative features such as: a high capacity optical disk, four controller ports and fast loading of graphics.

Although the Nintendo Game Cube may look like a toy it features a very powerful game console that matches up against the other next generation multimedia systems. Some unique features include its small size (6 inches), and its very appealing look and design, and super power capabilities.

The Nintendo Game Cube system allows you to play games only. It doesn’t try to include other features like playing CD’s or MP3’s, which has allowed Nintendo to concentrate their efforts on a powerful gaming entertainment system. Many of the new components have been designed by IBM and MoSys, and there is a large-capacity secondary memory cache available.

The new generation Nintendo Game Cube is the first to use a disc-based medium rather then the traditional cartridges for their games. It uses a smaller disc size that is different from the other video gaming systems. Its 3 inch format is smaller then others and can even fit into a shirt pocket.

The Game Cube also comes with four built-in controller ports that will allow you to play with your family and friends. Transporting the video game unit is easy with the built-in handle. Also included are two memory card slots that will allow you to save the progress through games. There is also room to expand the unit to allow for future capacity.

Here is a summary of the Nintendo Game Cube specifications:

  • Microprocessor Unit (MPU) – 485 Mhz IBM PowerPC Gekko
  • Graphics Processor – ATI/Nintendo flipper 162MHz
  • Main Memory – 24 MB MoSys 1T-SRAM
  • 4 Controller Ports
  • 2 Memory Card Slots
  • Audio/Video Output: analog and digital
  • Overall Dimensions - 4.3 X 5.9 X 6.3 inches (h x w x d)
  • Pixel Depth – 24 bit color , 24 bit Z buffer
  • System Memory – 40 MB

Overall the Game Cube doesn’t provide an all-on-one entertainment gaming system and it is not necessarily the most powerful video game consoles on the market but it holds its own and the value and price cannot be beat.
